Melbourne Grading

Looks like there was a successful grading over at the Melbourne Aikijujutsu Dojo! Congratulations to Sal for getting his 5th kyu.

It’s great to see the Dojo is putting down it’s first tentative roots.

Dinner with Giles

About a week ago, the club held a special Wind-Up dinner with Sensei Giles who had been visiting Perth for about a week and had packed in as much time on the mats as possible. Many senior students turned up for the opportunity to train in with Giles and he seemed positively delighted with the numbers of willing uke available.

Sensei Giles has opened up an Aikijujitsu Butoku Ryu Dojo in Melbourne, Australia. If you are travelling out that way you would be warmly welcomed to step on to the mats.

April Dinner

The monthly dinner was quite successful, despite the original location being closed and losing a couple of guys with bad directions to the next place (Sorry Paul, Dave).

AGM and Grading

There was an Annual General Meeting of the U.W.A. Aikido Club on Monday night, 30 May. The new club committee members are :

President – Ray
Vice Presidents – Nicolas, Xia
Treasurer – Paul
Secretary – Karel

Sensei Brett also announced the decision to have a Kyu Grading (Coloured Belts) in about a months time. The actual date is yet to be decided, but it will be on a Monday night.

The regular training sessions will focus on the techniques students require to pass their grading. We won’t cover everything in each class, so you will need to attend as many as you can to be prepared. A full syllabus will be posted to the web site within a week.

We will announce more details as they come to hand..
